Description

This is a good route for walking between Ringwood and Totton. The route includes some cracking woodland walking and some great views across the New Forest. Everyone in Ringwood and Totton (who's happy walking 30km) should give it a go!

It has been created in response to some of the issues on Rintot Two, avoiding walking on the path beside the noisy A31. The route does make use of a wide verge on the A337 north of Lyndhurst. This was reviewed as unsuitable on Rintot Two, but we found it wide, safe and OK.

A significant amount of the route (maybe just under 1/3) is on lanes. Most of these are very quiet

Surveys

We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.

Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.

Loved walking this route, especially seeing a big group of gorgeous donkeys! It was a real treat to do in during autumn too.

I recommend this route for sure.

I really enjoyed walking this route between Totton and Ringwood. I'd 100% walk it again.

We walked it during autumn and the forest was full of colour. Loved seeing the donkeys, ponies and deer, as well as some great views.

If you dislike walking on lanes, you might not enjoy this route. About 1/3 is on quite(ish) lanes. Most of which were very quiet and we could always step off the road. I don't think it would be possible to walk reasonably directly between Totton and Ringwood without some land walking.

I made this route largely in response to a review of Rintot Two being concerned about a stretch of verge walking on the A337 north of Lyndhurst. It's not ideal, but we thought it was safe and fine. Certainly a preference to a big detour or more lanes. Someone local might be able to suggest a better place to cross, but I'd be happy to use it again.
