Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.
Help people know more about this route by volunteering to submit a survey.

10 May 2023Pleasant, interesting stroll through Tredegar before leaving the village and heading onto open hillside. Sadly, the path marked on OS maps is very much theoretical and so not a very useable route and a little difficult to recommend. Will be creating an alternate.

02 Jul 2022A short, pleasant mountain walk from the Rhymney Valley over to the Sirhowy Valley. On leaving Rhymney the path leads up on to the mountain, but after the initial tracks, there was no obvious path to follow, so I had to resort to a compass heading, which took me through a couple of squelchy bogs. Fortunately, they weren`t too wet, but it was hard walking for a while. At least the masses of cotton grass made it worthwhile (Photo 2). The walk then finished with a leisurely stroll downhill past the housing estate into the town centre, finishing at the famous Tredegar clock.
