Surveys

We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.

Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.

Help people know more about this route by volunteering to submit a survey.

As usual with the coastal routes: very easy to follow, very pleasant to walk. Definitely recommend this route.

As noted by other reviewers, the first part of this route - between Ramsgate Beach and Dumpton Gap is on the foreshore. There is no sea wall, and this section is not possible for a couple of hours either side of high tide. You will need to go up the ramp to the clifftop path. Either way, it is a great walk.

Scenic and straightforward. I walked this route with a buggy and had no problems.

An easy path all the way along the route.

Lovely walk with fantastic sea views (look out for the seal) and passing many interesting buildings linked to Charles Dickens. Plenty of cafes along the route and had a lovely ice cream in Broadstairs. A choice of routes along the beach or on the cliffs top depending on tide.

This is a lovely walk along the coast from Ramsgate to Broadstairs. At low tide you can walk at the bottom of the cliffs as shown on the promenade and along the beach. If the tide is in then you will need to take the steps up to the clifftop to King George VI Memorial Park and stay on the clifftop path to Broadstairs.

This is a beautiful walk with lovely sea views and plenty of boat activity. There are some stone switchback steps leading up from the coastal path about 0.75 miles from the start with nice sheltered seats cut into the rock. This slight detour up the steps will take you through the King George Memorial Park if you turn right at the top. There is a cafe there and also a lovely old greenhouse to see. If you walk straight along the main path in the park you come out at the end and follow a green verge all the way to a signpost to Dumpton Gap. Follow the sign and it brings you out by the toilets at Dumpton Gap, and you are back on the Slow Ways route. There is a great little cafe at Dumpton Gap with outdoor seats and super coffee - we highly recommend a stop there!.
