23 Jun 2023 (edited 22 Jun 2023)I did enjoy the slow ways. The route was very direct and got me from A to B. The route was very uphill I found so was exhausting by the end!
The path is accessible but is on a rather busy road the whole way, however there are traffic light crossing the whole way along.
I would recommend this route and is a good alternative to driving.

17 Apr 2023Walked this route from Prestwich to Manchester. The route start and end points are very accessible by public transport and the route is incredibly direct and easy to follow. Most of the route from Prestwich is either flat or a descent and this, combined with the vast array of amenities and things to do in Manchester, means I’d certainly recommend walking from Prestwich to Manchester rather than the other way around.
The route ticks almost every box a Slow Way should have. It’s off road, direct, easy to navigate, very accessible by public transport, uses established roads and has plenty of places to eat and sleep. I walked it with a pram and although there are a couple of places with slightly raised kerbs, it was tremendously easy to negotiate overall. However, this is not a scenic or particularly interesting route as it’s largely just a straight walk down a busy arterial road, and the area around Strangeways prison in particular is not pretty. There are some nice places just off or not far from the route, including St Mary’s Flower Park in Prestwich and Heaton Park.
Therefore, this route serves well as part of a longer route rather than an enjoyable walk in and of itself, although I can’t give it less than five stars just for being a bit unsightly I feel.
