Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.

29 Oct 2023All these routes out of Poynton follow footpaths through farmland up to the canal which get waterlogged frequently. An alternative route (and better IMOH) would be to walk up the coppice onto the Middlewood Way and on to the canal from there. The canal runs along roughly the same route to Bollington and there are multiple points where you can easily swap between the two.

25 Oct 2023I walked this route entirely in the dark, which I thoroughly enjoyed. It was easy to follow and is mostly beside the canal.
The moon rise looked great above the Peak District in the distance. I should imagine it's a beautiful daytime walk..
It's been raining a lot and there was a couple of muddy pinch points between Poynton and the canal, but the towpath was fine.
I'd 100% walk this route again!.
