Description
This is a tried, tested and good route for walking between Porthmadog and Harlech.
The southern end of the route has some stunning and varied scenery and mostly follows the Wales Coast Path. The view across the estuary and Portmeirion with Snowdonia in the background is stunning.
Roughly a third of the route is on paths alongside roads, which is not ideal but makes for easy navigation and walking. Following the Wales Coast Path the whole way will be 2km further than this route and avoid 1km of walking beside the A497. If you are not in a rush that may be a better way to go

Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.

12 Aug 2022This is a good walk that in many places deserves 5 stars. You can expect some fabulous views across Snowdonia and lots of variation.
It's missed out on the 5th star for me because of the walking beside the A497 - but that is all on paths and is safe.
Another time I would walk walk the Wales Coast Path the whole way.
