Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.
Help people know more about this route by volunteering to submit a survey.

02 Apr 2023 (edited 11 Mar 2024)We were planning to walk this route yesterday from Rugeley to Penkridge, and followed most of it, but we found an issue that currently blocks it, and as a result we explored other alternatives and found a different route into the Cannock Chase access land (see PENRUG 4).
There is a problem with the right of way just south of Dutton's Pool - the bridge where it crosses the stream has been washed away, which means that the path is not useable, at least when the water is as high as it is now. There are a couple of other places where the paths on the ground do not match the rights of way exactly. Apart from that this would be a good route.
Update 11/3/24: I have removed my Don't Know flag because Ken has informed us that the problem has been fixed.

10 Mar 2024Pleased to report that the bank and path here has been repaired to a high standard, perhaps more to control the stream rather than restore the path. However it has resulted in evidence that the footpath is now being well used as it offers a pleasant view of the pool.
