Description
(followed the Westerham to Oxted) direction - modified the existing Oxtwes route as follows:
1. Re-routed to avoid the track to Squerryes Home Farm - this is NOT a permissive path and is obstructed by a locked gate
2. Rerouted at Moorhouse Lane to avoid the section of lane (not a very safe walk - there are hidden dips)
3. Rerouted at Limpsfield Golf Course to avoid the walk along the A25 (which has intermittent pavements and is a busy road)
4. Rerouted in the streets of Oxted to avoid pointless extra distance

Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.

31 Mar 2024I walked this on a dry and slightly overcast morning, from Oxted to Westerham. It had rained a fair amount in the preceding week.
After leaving the residential streets of Oxted (photo #1, #2) behind, and going up hill, there is soon an open green area, with a muddy path. You then cross Pebble Hill (A25) before ending up on more lovely paths. Sometimes they were muddy and in woods (photo #3, #5), and sometimes in open areas with sheep in the fields besides you (photo #2). There were a few extensively muddy parts too, churned up by horses most likely (photo #6, #7). The route is fairly up and downy, and there sometimes great views into the valley (photo #9). The path down the hill into Westerham was good, but also a little muddy in places. And a long set of steps (photo #10). A little alleyway got me to the finish (photo #11).
A lovely walk, with a lot of variety. Some good exercise due to the hills as well.

24 Jun 2023Lovely. Lots of shady woodland path, some cows and very picturesque. Limpsfield village even more picturesque than Westerham, worth a look down the High Street, gallery, old pub, really nice cafe and a few'artisan' type shops.

17 Nov 2023This route is very helpful. I found the same problems on Warwes1 after Broomlands Lane and could connect with this route at Watts Hill. Thanks.

03 Dec 2022Enjoyed the walk & will do again. It is relatively easy but not suitable for wheels or mobility issues as some big steps at Westerham end & some other steep areas. Also it can be very wet & muddy in places & some paths not large & clearly marked, so going through wooded area can be trial & error. Route crosses a couple of unbarricaded roads & passes through/near fields that may have livestock so dogs best kept on leads for at least part of the walk.

05 Oct 2021A pleasant, enjoyable and reasonably direct walk, with quite a bit of a variety once you escape the Oxted suburbs - from heath to wood, golf course to open fields. It offers good views of the North Downs a lot of the way but is practically always within earshot of traffic on the M25 or A25. The route is mostly well waymarked and easy to follow, but it would be difficult to wheel it due to gates and stiles and some narrow, muddy sections especially after rain.
