Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.
Help people know more about this route by volunteering to submit a survey.

12 Aug 2022 (edited 31 Aug 2022)Overton to Kingsclere (Ovekin 1) review.
A marvellous walk across the North Wessex Downs AONB.
The route east from Overton to Deane is the same as Overton to Basingstoke (see Ovebas 1). It follows the River Test to its source at Ashe (Photo 1) and across fields into Deane.
The Slow Way then heads north (Photo 2). A couple of fields had a bull warning (Photo 3) but only held cows.
A footpath leads through the northern edge of Great Deane Wood (Photo 4); a welcome relief from the heatwave.
The route across fields and quiet lanes (Photo 5) heads into Hannington (Photo 6). The Vine (Photo 7) is closed Mondays and between 3pm and 6pm.
The Slow Way north from Hannington follows the chalk footpaths of the North Wessex Downs with panoramic views (Photo 8 & 9).
The route descends from the downs for a shaded footpath (Photo 10) into Kingscleve. The large village has a choice of pubs, café and convenience store. I dropped into The Crown by the church for lunch.
