Description
An alternative to Norbar1 with wet weather or wheeling alternatives at the Northam end. Very similar to the original route, which is excellent with plenty of options for refreshment stops along the way. A relatively easy walk much of it along the shared Tarka Trail

Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.

07 Jan 2023A copy of the excellent Norbar(1) but totally on tarmac and avoiding the steep section at Northam on the enclosed footpath at Clevelands Park, which after wet weather can be difficult as the runoff can be fast causing the path to be like a stream in places. The alternative is not much longer and continues on tarmac surface along pavements. Also at Limers Lane, Northam near the A39 underpass this route stays on hard surfaces so would be more accessible to those wheeling. These small changes have little impact on what is an excellent route. The majority of this route is the same as Norbar(1) following the Tarka Trail a shared route with cyclists between Barnstaple and Bideford. Plenty of pubs, cafes and picnic benches along the route. Great for bird spotting with really good estuary views.
