Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.
Help people know more about this route by volunteering to submit a survey.

24 Jun 2024 (edited 27 Jun 2024)It is clear to me that the A1 crossing where Cross Lane ends west of Elkesley is not safe, and that the route needs to use the road bridge a little further east. I have drawn a new version that also straightens the routes through Ollerton and Retford, and test walked it. I also found an issue with the Robin Hood Way path just south of the Maun, where the path has been semi-permanently flooded. Some locals showed me a fairly easy diversion route that gets round that. I will write a longer review for the new route, with pictures.
The pictures here are (i) looking down on the A1 where this route crosses it, from the bridge the route should use, (ii) and (iii) the flooded area that the Robin Hood Way "crosses". This path used to be fine when I last walked it in the 2010s, but it appears that something has changed causing it to be flooded even at dry times of year.
