Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.
Help people know more about this route by volunteering to submit a survey.

02 Feb 2024I like this route. The walk along Nantwich Road from the station is, obviously, urban but, for the most part, interesting. Things start to feel more rural along Broughton Road and Church Lane. The walk through the fields is very pleasant if somewhat muddy in places (worst between Colleys Lane and the Nantwich bypass). The route includes about 15 gates and a set of steps down to and up from the bypass.

01 May 2021This is a quick direct route between the two towns and is roughly half road walking and half footpaths through fields. The last mile is along a fairly busy main road towards Crewe station, but I can't immediately see any alternative that is so direct. If you are wheeling you could use this just this main road as there is a pavement along the entire length between the towns. The fields footpath is well signposted and well trodden, so easy to follow. There are no stiles, only kissing gates. I passed through one field of cows. There is one road crossing where extreme care is needed - the footpath crosses the A51 with traffic moving at 60 - 70mph. There are steps on each side of the crossing. Generally a pleasant walk.
