Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.
Help people know more about this route by volunteering to submit a survey.

10 Jul 2024This is a straightforward and easy path, mainly following the tow path of the Shropshire Union canal. The Nantwich end before you get onto the canal is, in July, a bit overgrown - mainly long grass and there is nothing impassable. There is a railway crossing, but good visibility so this shouldn’t present a problem. All the gates were well maintained.

13 Aug 2021This is a peaceful and easy route between these two charming settlements, using the canal towpath for almost the entire length. The path is mainly grass, with a few sections of cement and gravel. I walked from Audlem to Nantwich and the way leaves the canal at the railway and then goes across fields into the town. The route here was easy to follow except for a small section of path which runs alongside the railway line (the section closest to the town going away from Fields Farm). It is almost completely overgrown, but it is not difficult to follow the alternative paths which have been walked nearby. Also be aware that this section of path is not signposted in either direction. Crossing the railway at Fields Farm is using a pedestrian crossing gate. It is a quiet line and there is very good visibility there, but if you prefer to avoid this or to avoid the stiles over the fields, then stay on the canal until bridge 91 and then use the residential road Queen's Drive to walk into Nantwich.
