We walked this route, starting at Holmes Chapel, on 25th August 2021. It was fine and dry and had been for a number of days. The Holmes Chapel end of the route was straightforward and easy, being mostly on a paved path through the housing area and then minor roads. However, towards Middlewich the Dane Valley Way becomes a footpath through fields. These would probably be fine in winter/spring, but we found it so overgrown with nettles that we abandoned our plan to return the same route. Will put our alternative up as Midhol route 2, which was also more direct, and had less obstacles. Only took photos on the return, so will post all of those on route 2.
