Description
Marhar Two, although verified, has a tricksy crossing point where the A5183 and M1 intersect: this route option uses alternative crossing points which may prove more acceptable!
The route goes via Flamstead and touches the outskirts of Redbourn before heading off to Harpenden via Rothamsted.
Refreshments at Flamstead: I kept in the little diversion through the churchyard to the nearby pub that I included in Marhar Two

Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.
Help people know more about this route by volunteering to submit a survey.

21 Jul 2024I tried this route out to find out whether the suggestion of the different crossing point across the M1 would help.
Unfortunately I found other issues. The path from Delmer End Lane to Sunny Ridge was a forest of nettles. Hard to pass through. On the bottom end, just before it gets to the double fence there were access issues, and the path through the field towards Norrington End was blocked by cows. I had to backtrack and basically ended up walking Marhar 2, which I would very much recommend — you'll find my review there.
Another suggestion to make the crossings easier would likely be to follow the River Ver Trail all the way from Markygate to Harpendenbury Farm, and then pick up Marhar 2/3 again.
