Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.
Help people know more about this route by volunteering to submit a survey.

26 Oct 2021The route shown cannot be used because the level crossing at Brantham High Bridge has been closed by Network Rail on safety grounds.

30 Apr 2021The Level Crossing at Brantham High Bridge suggested in this route has been closed for some years and the alternative option to walk on the A137 main road which has no pavement and a 60mph speed limit would be considered unsafe by many especially if walking with children or dogs.

24 Jul 2023Hi Clare. I've drafted another route for ManIps without that level crossing, via Strutton, Tattingstone and Bourne Park. But I'm not a local so I can't test it out before posting. Can you see any obvious problems? https://www.plotaroute.com/route/2330260?units=km

25 Jul 2023I will have a look as soon as I'm able to - won't be this week I'm afraid. I have a different route also to post that I use regularly too but it doesn't sound as if your route overlaps. The opening of the England Coast Path will probably make a route for ManIps easier too.

25 Jul 2023Thanks Clare. I'm sure a route that you already know will be more useful so I'll leave it to you to propose something. I was just pondering doing a longer Essex-Suffolk coastal walk and noticed this hole. The ECP will be a big help in North Kent too. Although technically we should be calling it the KCIIIECP now. Snappy.
