18 Aug 2024Great Exmoor walk, very enjoyable but very energetic. I walked from Lynmouth to Porlock, and worrying that I wouldn't get to Porlock in time for the last bus, did it in 2 days, breaking it up at County Gate where there is a stop for the Exmoor Coaster bus route.
At Porlock Weir I made a very slight change to the route getting off the road a few yards early to join the signed footpath to Porlock. I preferred it to the road, but on a wet day a bit more road would probably be preferable.
Other than that I don't have much to add to the previous reviews. I love Exmoor Slow Ways!.

16 Apr 2024A superb route with steep climbs but with the reward of some stunning views. the route is mostly along the Coleridge Way which is well signed - with a quill motif. Much of the route is in the East Lyn river valley at the western end between Lynton and Brendon, A tight river valley through with excellent views of the river. The middle section is more exposed on higher ground before leaving the Coleridge Way and dropping down to join the Coast Path at the delightful little church at Culbone and then through more woodland paths to Porlock Weir. The route then follows the B3225 for about a hundred yards before climbing back up in to woodland and back on to the Coleridge Way before descending on woodland down onto the Toll road into Porlock. The Staghunters Inn at Brendon is well placed for a refreshment break, althoughyou do have to cross the river at Leeford bridge and double back a short distance along the road. Worth it though.

27 Mar 2023I walked this Sloway in the Lynmouth to Porlock direction. This is a long walk with lots of ups and downs. It was also a bit muddy in places after a week of heavy rain. However this is one of the more scenic Sloways I have done. It starts with a long meander along the river, followed by a climb out of the valley with spectacular views back down the valley. This is followed by a section on top of Exmoor looking over the Bristol Channel and to Wales before finally dropping back into ancient woodland. 99% of the route is on well maintained footpath with no traffic whatsoever. Tea room at Watersmeet. Pubs along the route at Rockford, Brendon and Porlock Weir as well as lots more at both Lynmouth and Porlock.
I parked in Porlock and got the Exmoor Coaster Bus to Lynmouth before walking back.
