Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.
Help people know more about this route by volunteering to submit a survey.

18 Feb 2023At the start just continue on Gipsy lane. The diversion around via Park Street isn't worth it.
As previous reviewer said, the map seems to want you to crosss the railway at a locked gate, from here it isn't that obvious that there's a tunnel, you need to get down to the road level and the tunnel is not far away.
The rest of the route was fine until reaching the road junction of Chiltern Green and Copt Hall Road. Here the route is cutting through the trees in error I think. Just stick to the road until the end.

15 Sep 2022Walked during mid August from Luton to Kimpton. After leaving Luton most of the walk is along the side of fields, occasionally going back on to road or through wooded paths. The route takes you close to Luton Airport and an old castle ruin called Someries Castle.
A couple of points I'd make are, firstly, the route takes you off Gypsy Lane and down Osborne Road, while this route has a little more greenery I don't think it was worth the detour and its better to stay on Gypsy Lane. Secondly, when walking along the footpath next to the lower Luton road the route shows that you take a left. This left corresponds with a locked gate to a network rail access point, the actual path is to go right down a flight of steps onto the lower Luton road, turn right and walk about ten yards and then turn right again through a railway arch.
Overall the walk is OK, not many places to stop other than at St Peters green but otherwise the route is reasonable for most walkers.

18 Feb 2023Option to get a bus back to town from Kimpton too but they are not at all regular so needs careful timing!
