Description

This is a Slowway that tries to stick to the Heart of Wales Trail as much as possible (as you know the route will be clear!). I have cut a little bit off of what seemed like an unnecessary diversion. It also uses country lanes a lot - but don't be put off as you hardly see any traffic and it goes through the most wonderful pretty little valleys, woodlands and streams. There are a lot of ups and downs across the small hills and valleys but nothing challenging. The section through Goleugoed and Lwynywormwood is particularly pretty. Plenty of buzzards and kites soaring above and also rabbits and squirrels chasing across the ground. There is a good bus route between Llandovery and Llangadog. There is also a hit and miss train (bus replacement) service

Surveys

We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.

Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.

One of the prettiest (and I never normally use that word) Slowways I have walked. Caught the bus from Llandovery to Llangadog and walked back. A few steep sections but nothing too challenging. The hedgerows looked amazing so it was worth the walk along country lanes. There were hardly any cars and those I saw slowed down and waved hello ! The mid section is great as its a series of little wooded valleys and streams. As usual on the Heart Of Wales Trail I didn't see another walker - slightly sad so many people are missing out on this countryside - but also good that it was peaceful and I had it all to myself. I needed this walk so much after a very stressful month and this was the perfect medicine. Next walks will be Landeilo to Llanelli to complete Heart of Wales Trail using Slowways.
