Description

This route uses the Heart of Wales trail and Beacons Way section - and is all the better for it - you know you have a trusted well maintained route with access. This may not be the most direct route but by getting up on the ridge you get the best views across the Tywi valley and across to the start of the Bannau Brechiniogs. It would be a mistake to do this walk between Llandeilo and Llangadog without taking in Garn Goch a major Iron Age settlement with amazing views and a great place for bird spotting (kites, pipits, swallows etc). The walk closer to Llangadog is more open agricultural whereas towards Llandeilo is full of little wooded meadows. This walk uses country lanes but you will hardly encounter any traffic as it gets quite remote. Llandeilo is a lovely small town full of painted houses, an impressive bridge and a good variety of cafes. There is a train service between Llangadog and Llandeilo. There are also good views to Castell Carreg Cennen sitting on a rocky outcrop below the Bannau Brechiniogs

Surveys

We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.

Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.

Help people know more about this route by volunteering to submit a survey.

  1. Complete the survey training.
