Description
This route is slightly flatter, 15% shorter and more beautiful than LewBla 2. It goes across the common, also known as Blackheath. There are wide skies, wildflowers, views of the Docklands towers and it is edged with attractive, sometimes listed houses. Route 1 has no green space.
After testing I realised it would be simpler to just stay on Granville Park (if coming up from Lewisham) instead of the second left, left, right, right on this route. Bit nicer too

Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.

23 Sep 2022 (edited 23 Jun 2023)It's a nice walk and Blackheath is lovely, especially when they let the grass grow long. Agree with earlier reviewer, don't stick rigidly to the roads, use paths through the grass which weave beside them. The Heath is a lovely place to watch the sun rise or set if you're in the area.
But I do wish I'd designed it differently to use the full length of Granville Park. It's worth adding 300m length to avoid a twisting section slowed by frequent road junctions.

17 Sep 2022A very short and easy Slow Way. From Lewisham there is a bit of uphill walking but nothing too strenuous. Leafy suburban streets until you meet the heath then grass with paths and good views all the way to the last slope down into Blackheath. If it is open, pop into the tiny artist run White Box Gallery on Hare and Billet Road which you will walk right by.
Good transport links either end of the route and plenty of shops, cafes etc.

14 Sep 2022Good route - it looks a bit indirect on the map but it’s worth the detour to get the views from Blackheath.
Worth walking on the grass at Blackheath rather than sticking with the pavement.

02 Jan 2022This is a short but pleasant route. Starting in Lewisham the first part of the walk up Granville Park and Eliot Park is quite steep, but then it's downhill along footpaths into Blackheath. The second part of the walk into Blackheath is particularly nice.

23 Jun 2023Full marks on a route check in June 2023. Granville Park would still be simpler and a bit prettier. It also has a blue plaque and a very nice cat.
