Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.
Help people know more about this route by volunteering to submit a survey.

10 Feb 2024Looking at the .gpx exported into OS maps, I am surprised that Jo found the route passable throughout. By my reckoning, the plotting is inaccurate in many places and extremely so in Orleton (swerves through gardens off any PROW), Eye (short cuts across private land at The Field and then by Eye Manor), Luston (follows a track that is not a PROW from the village to Little Bury) and at The Broad (follows bank of stream across private land at Mile End, avoiding nearby Herefordshire Trail).
I have created a more accurate .gpx, uploaded it as Leolud two, trialled and reviewed it.

19 Aug 2023Decent route. Its fairly easy to find as long as you have a map. The waymarking is intermittant so it would be easy to get lost without some form of map or checking where you are.
There are lots of really lovely sections, little villages, beautiful houses and some fabulous views.
There are also lots of stiles, some in wobbly condition. There was 2 gates tied shut that had to be climbed over.
Lots of the route is on the Herefordshire Trail, despite this there was also lots of very overgrown areas and sections with crops making it hard to find or traverse the footpaths.
However there are also really clear and well marked sections, so overall a very nice walk, great way to get from Ludlow to Leominster if you have the time.

If anyone follows and reviews Leolud, I think there is a need to create a more accurate .gpx that will have to be uploaded as Leolud two.
I was thinking of following this route on 9.1.2024 but I anticipate that mud and floods are likely to make some sections exceptionally difficult, wet and dirty to traverse, even by Herefordshire standards, despite freezing temperatures forecast for the night before. -

10 Jan 2024Hoping for drier, harder ground tomorrow (11.1.2024) to trial revised .gpx (Leolud two) section from Leominster to Orleton. This should cover all of the inaccuracies mentioned above.
