11 Nov 2021I walked this from Kilsyth to Kippen. This is (mostly) an enjoyable cross-country route within the capabilities of the average hillwalker. It is not an accessible route for anyone with mobility limitations or suitable for pushchairs. The end to end route is 17 miles and there are no facilities (eating/shops/transport etc.) en route. The route uses mainly 4WD farm and forestry tracks, there is some minor road walking at start and end and a few minor footpath sections where ground can be boggy. There are a couple of unbridged stream crossings and a ford to negotiate - gaiters/walking poles are essential for these when the streams are in spate as they were when I walked the route. There is one short section of the route (7 miles from Kilsyth) from Todholes Windfarm track to the ruined farmhouse at Burnfoot where there is a footpath signed, but no clear path on the ground and a number of obstacles to negotiate - non-barbed wire fences without stiles and a steep gully with an unbridged stream crossing at the bottom. I've only awarded the route 3 stars because of the lack of facilities and this difficult section - it may be possible to re-route around this gully to reach Burnfoot using alternative wind farm tracks, but that would make the route quite a bit longer.
