Surveys

We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.

Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.

Help people know more about this route by volunteering to submit a survey.

Nice route with a lot of green and off-road.
Potentially some muddy sections
Fully agree with previous reviewer that the section along Old Malden Lane should be avoided - no pavements at all there (see my 9th photo of 15). Better to use London Loop diversion to Grafton Road and back.

A lovely green route alongside the Hogsmill river & through the Hogsmill Nature Reserve.
To avoid walking along the narrow & busy Old Malden Lane, I suggest following the London Loop, that takes you a little away from the Hogsmill river, as follows. Just after going under the railway bridge (with mosaics), go left uphill rather than right over the footbridge. Past the church, turn right on Church Road and in 50m, left on a narrow path marked with a London Loop sign. At the end of the path, continue on Royal Avenue, turn right on Grafton Road then right on Cromwell Road to reach Old Malden Lane & pick up the original route. Cross the road and turn immediately left on the path by the river.

A great route which follows the Thames Down Link until in turns off down to Tolworth. Once out of Kingston you spend the vast majority of time in woodland and parks following the river. The paths were very quiet on the day that we walked them.

At the Maldon Way, it does not show it very well on the map but you have to leave the river and green temporarily to cross the road using a subway about 100m up the road.
