Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.
Help people know more about this route by volunteering to submit a survey.

30 Oct 2024 (edited 31 Oct 2024)This was a beautiful walk, on a lovely sunny autumn day.
Views in all directions, mostly farmland and back towards Bennachie.
Left Kintore town hall at 9:30 on a Monday morning.
15 mins
Turn on to the track up on the right side of the house, to join the Skair Road.
(An amazingly straight, slightly uphill old country road, in great condition. Didn't see a single vehicle)
1 hour
Reach the junction to pick up the Old Turnpyke road.
(More of a muddy farm track than the previous section but still really pleasant walking.)
1 hour 15
Reach the houses and trees at orchard grove.
(Quite overgrown through the trees, but there is a path.)
This section can easily be bypassed by continuing on to Fintray road if you don't want to go through.
1 hour 30
Reach the Ley Hotel / Adam lounge Blackburn.
