Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.

29 Jun 2022A relatively short route but with a few steep gradients. It also has a number of stiles so not accessible for all.
Although short it provided a lot of interest & variation in landscape & environment.
Leaving Kingsbridge it follows pavement or quiet road leading to a public byway. On the steeper sections where worn to bedrock I found it a bit slippy underfoot, but that may be due to poor grip on my boots in wet conditions.
The route turns onto a footpath over a stile into a meadow overlooking bowcombe creek. It continues on footpaths, crossing a road & across the creek via a lovely old causeway amongst reed beds (full of reed warblers). Leaving the creek it climbs very steeply along a field edge - no livestock at time. Although steep it gives great views across to kingsbridge & the estuary.
The route then follows quiet country lanes to Sherford. Very little traffic, hedges full of wildflowers & birds. No refreshment at Sherford but a pretty church.
