Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.

16 Apr 2024Another good Slow Ways route easy to follow through nice countryside.
I started from Kidderminster going past the Severn Valley heritage railway terminus and the main railway station along pavement walking going into field paths. I took a short detour to have a look at Harvington Hall which looks good for a visit along the way to Chaddesley Corbett. Here i stopped for a drink at The Swan pub with good beer and food. Then you go along nice field paths with good views before entering Chaddesley Wood and Randan Wood with bluebells throughout. The next section through Dodford needs care as there is a narrow path at times with overgrown trees and on to field paths before crossing over the noisy M42 and then entering Bromsgrove. Along the route are a number of stiles so not for all users.

01 May 2023A safe, direct, varied and mostly enjoyable walk. Mostly easy walking although the section around Dodford was pretty tough going with infrastructure in poor repair, trees growing across the fenced in tracks and the slippery paths quite tricky. Lots of stiles and some kissing gates. The walk up the hill and then down again in Chaddesley Wood seemed a bit bemusing, especially as I saw no wildlife! Stopped for a drink at the Swan in Chaddesley Corbett (recommended). Encountered goats and cows near Nutnells Wood, but they were happy to be avoided.

30 Apr 2023I did this walk going in the direction to Kidderminster. It is a very pleasant route through mixed countryside (apart from their unavoidable pavement walking at the two ends). The section from Chaddesley Corbett (where there is a pub serving drinks and food) is particularly attractive and along easy paths. The route passes through Harvington (where a short detour takes you to Harvington Hall, a moated Elizabethan Manor House famed for its numerous priest holes). When the house is open there is a cafe and in the village of Harvington there is a pub. The route enters Kidderminster along the road passing both the main station and the Severn Valley heritage railway terminus. There are a number of stiles to negotiate.
