Description
This route avoids the school and business park in Keynsham (which I'm not sure is even a navigable footpath). It also takes a quiet roadside route to Saltford avoiding gates and styles and the main road. It uses more of the Bristol-Bath cycle route, including the ramped entrance to avoid a large set of steps. It follows the riverside path further into Bath centre passing the bus station en route to the train station

29 Aug 2022I walked this route yesterday, and agree with Panifex, very simple to follow, and gets you relatively stress free from Keynsham to Bath. The bonus is the Bird in Hand pub ( just in middle third ), downside are the hundreds of cyclists, all aiming to smash the British cycling land speed record. I accept the need for all users on the track, but it means you need to keep your wits about you on it, and not wander aimlessly about or you are likely to be in a collision. Personally I find the track v boring but as before it gets you from A to B......I prefer the river route.
I also think lukeh missed a trick on this route, if you cut out Gooseberry Lane ( north face of the Eiger ) and 13 steps, and use Steel Mills instead, the route would be acceptable for people of limited mobility, wheelchairs/pushchairs, and mob scooters.
I will upload a route to incorporate this, and cut out the loop at Saltford in favour of a ramp just after the B in H pub.

03 Apr 2022A functional route between Bath and Saltford - really simple to navigate, accessible and broadly flat for the entire route. I think this easily meets the criteria for inclusion in the slow ways network (and does indeed avoid the issues of the other route).
I will say, however, it's a bit dull - especially the section along the Bath to Bristol cycle track (which is also busy). There are more attractive routes that could be taken - but this one is reasonably direct and very easy. The approach into Bath itself is, of course, great.
