I walked from Warlingham to Kenley on a day that couldn't make up its mind, but rained later.
Got the bus to Warlingham (dominated by cars) but soon through a suburban street to countryside. Quite muddy with puddles, but despite very wet recent weather, nothing too bad, but wear good shoes.
Some roads to a sports ground, here there are works (carpark and landscaping), the path is diverted, but the diversion adds little distance and is clearly shown. This will alter over time (see survey). A foreman I spoke to said works will continue to Summer 2026. No need for a new route.
Across open fields, then along the London LOOP (trig!) to Riddlesdown. There is a steep decent (33% with camber) with steps down beautiful chalkland (not for wheels) to Kenley, shops and station.
A good route with variety and interest.

I enjoyed this walk starting from Kenley Station. The path up to Riddlesdown is quite steep but good views from the top. A short section follows the London Loop. I wasn't totally happy with the route through Court Farm as this had a security barrier and was labelled Private Property. The alternative (same distance) would be to continue along the LOOP to Tithepit Shaw Lane then turn right to join the path opposite Court Farm entrance. The rest of the route into Warlingham was fine. The public toilets in Leas Road are temporarily closed.

I walked this on a rainy and stormy morning from Kenley to Warlingham.

From Kenley the path goes fairly up (photo #1) towards Honister Heights. It was quite nice, even in the rain as it was sheltered by the trees for the first half. Some nice views too (photo #2). At the east end of Honister Heights the path follows a bridleway (photo #3, #4) towards the Sanderstead to Whyteleafe Country Side Area. It has nice views (photo #5), and there were lots of butterflies (photo #6). One turning south, there is a wide open area as you walk around a private field (photo #7). Once you get to Warlingham Rugby Club there were a few other brambly bushes (photo #8), but nothing too bad. There was a nice meadow (photo #9) to go through as well, and then a path with a lovely tree (photo #10). Then a public footpath follows, which is fenced in (photo #11), before end up on Warlingham's green with shops.

    This is fine except that Court Farm is labelled private property. You can avoid that by continuing east on the Capital Ring to Tithepit Shaw Lane then turning south to pick up the route opposite the road to Court Farm.
