Description

This Route exits Leamington Spa via Saxon Mill Fields which has some good views and pass Saxon Mill. Then goes North along the Coventry Road (A429) which is not ideal but is not for too long and there is a cycle path off to the side so is fine. Then under the A46 on along a small road and footpath the goes around the Warwickshire golf course which is a very well kept path. You leave the golf course on the North side and after crossing the road you follow the path across some fields before entering Kenilworth

Surveys

We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.

Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.

Did this walk from Kenilworth. Really enjoyed doing it this way as the views south are excellent once you get to Leek Wootton and the golf course. Seems a bit unfair to give it just 4 stars, but the relatively short and busy section walking next to the A429 sadly just blights it enough in my opinion.

There are several kissing gates and boardwalks in places where it presumably gets muddy in wet weather. The bridge over the river at the Saxon Mill has a few steps, but probably the toughest section are the stones in the path immediately as you get off the bridge on the Leamington side. These stones seem ancient and require care when walking on them.

The Saxon Mill pub is a great spot for refreshments, but booking ahead is recommended as it can get very busy, especially when the weather's nice.
