Help connect Kenilworth
Many Slow Ways have several route options. Some will be better than others, or good for different reasons.
Our goal is for each Slow Way to have at least one route that is verified and surveyed. To be verified – and get its snail badge – a route needs at least three positive reviews.
Give a hike and help get a for every one of Kenilworth’s Slow Ways.

This could easily be avoided if after exiting the University Grounds you turn right along Gibbet Hill Road and then left at the island onto Leighfield road to join up with KenCov2 at the start of the link road to the Greenway...

There are sections of pavement and in some places road walking which requires a bit of care, so definitely not five stars, and for me what saves it from dropping any further than four is the amount of interest on the walk. The path takes you to the footbridge over the M42 (photo 4) and then through a couple of fields before you reach the outskirts of Knowle and some pavement walking. Leaving Knowle you pass by the Parish Church, and then some pavement walking along the Kenilworth Road. There is a small section of road walking (with small verge) at the end before turning left onto another footpath. The route shortly picks up the Kenilworth Road once again for probably the worst bit of road walking of the route along a quarter of a mile stretch with narrow verges (photo 7). I definitely recommend this route and would do it again, it's just a shame there's a few small sections of road walking which require care....

Overall it's a good route but I have the following comments: (1) if you don't know Kenilworth (I was passing through) then I would definitely take the detour around the Castle....

The route takes you over an 11th century motte-and-bailey castle, through some lovely little villages, an old tractor graveyard, and an excellent pub in Five Ways. The route then drops down through the attractive village of Lowsonford and onto a section of road walking which crosses the Stratford-upon-Avon canal and eventually takes you over the M40 and Chiltern mainline railway and a small section alongside both. The final section of the route is pleasant enough, through Haseley Green, over more sections of road, and then walking mainly over agricultural land towards Kenilworth....

After that, the walk takes you through the suburbs and through an underpass getting you safely to the other side of the A46 and out of Warwick. A couple of points of interest on the walk; the big abandoned house you see after leaving the underpass is Woodloes Farmhouse, a grade II* listed building....
Steve Litchfield
On the whole it's a good route, taking an interesting path through Gibbet Hill. Negatives aside, it is a good route utilising a bit of the Kenilworth Greenway on the old disused rail line to Berkswell and a good bit of Gibbet Hill Wood....
Steve Litchfield
Seems a bit unfair to give it just 4 stars, but the relatively short and busy section walking next to the A429 sadly just blights it enough in my opinion....
Steve Litchfield
The signage gets a bit unclear travelling through the golf course, but at least there was no golf being played when I went through....

Jack Jamieson added Solken two, a new walk from Solihull to Kenilworth
Walk this routeNice walk with decent views! Away from the roads just about as much as possible....

Very pleasant route with varied scenery, fairly peaceful and good length...

Generally good route: cycle path between Kenilworth and Warwick University particularly good to walk along. Odd diversion at one point into and then out of a field. Easily avoided by remaining on the cycle path....

Some lovely stretches through farmland and fields, but mostly road walking as you leave Kenilworth and an unpleasant stretch of the busy Stoneleigh Road (some of it walking on a grass verge) once you've crossed over the A46. The golf course was pleasant enough to walk through, but can be busy with balls whizzing around you....
GreenSprouts
Very marshy and in parts flooded to the west of the golf course, whilst possible to detour around, not the easiest. Also route sends you through a field you can’t get into as trees grown through gate, but again it’s not too long a detour....

Tnarg added Kenroy two, a new walk from Kenilworth to Royal Leamington Spa
Walk this routeCould be amended to match Kenroy route - will be doing this tomorrow! Is passable, but you have to be brave and detour slightly....

While is might look tempting to go the shorter route to the west of the golf course, dont it's a swamp. This route has good views and mostly dry....
Tnarg
The path is well marked and even has warning about which way to look for incoming golf balls when acrossing the golf course. Too much road to recomend on it's own but good as part of Leamington-Kenilworth-Stoneleigh loop....
Tnarg
The footpath is swamp west of the golf course dont go this way unless we are in a middle of a drought. Instead head around the east side. Check out the Leamington to Kenilworth walk....
Tnarg
Personally, would head into Tutbury open space when crossing the a45 and follow the footpath along the stream and into Gibbet Hill Wood, before picking this route up on Gibbet Hill Road...
Marion Frankland
Few strange diversions off the cycle path through harder to walk on fields, seemingly just for the sake of it. Shame that HS2 works are going to destroy much of the surroundings....
meloddymaybe
-the intial section of the Kenilworth Road should drop off the pavement on the left (walking out of Coventry) and onto the footpath through the woods between the road and the Memorial Park. -After crossing the a45, there is a footpath through the woods on the right side of the road (heading out of Coventry). This is between the pavement and the houses....
Marion Frankland
Pleasant walk, especially enjoyed the bits before during and immediately after the golf course. Would have given 5 stars if not for slightly nerve-wracking section on path next to very busy road....
