19 Jun 2023Great route. I walked this from Bedford bus station to Kempston to finish a triangle of Slow Ways in the west of the town.
Getting to the Great Ouse is easy, and as mentioned previously a lovely path and cycleway, only issues are with the low bridges (1.4m height restriction pictured). This might be uncomfortable for most if not all users both on foot and wheel. There is an alternative which is a spiralled footbridge over the railway (pictured). Towards the end of the route as I walked it, there is a footbridge with steps at Kempston which will limit access on an otherwise reasonably accessible route.
Great Denham Park is a lovely part of the route. There is a cafe towards the north west corner if you needed to take a breather on a longer sequence of routes.
Note - along the Great Ouse, the footpath near Queens Bridge can be walked right along the river, there is no need to dog leg here as the route suggests.
Kempston meeting place is a little off from where I would have it (up towards the Saxon Centre and Sainsburys which seems to be a more natural 'hub'). This could be revised if needed, but the current meeting place does help in the fact it isn't miles away from connecting a little triangle of routes between Kempston, Bromham and Bedford.

29 Jul 2022Walked from Kempston to Bedford. The bridge referred to in a previous review is now open. The walk is along very good paths, in my view suitable for wheelchairs and buggies (although I am not an expert).
This was a lovely walk along the river. There were no issues with the path. At one point in Bedford the path passes below a bridge which had a height restriction of 1.4 meters.

27 Jun 2021 (edited 16 Oct 2022)A very pleasant walk along the river from Bedford to Kempston along a mostly tarmac path. The path is well used by pedestrians and cyclists, as it is also a cycle path. A short section at each end is on pavements alongside roads. There is one bridge which requires going up and down a flight of steps. There are a couple of low bridges to go under the railway at the Bedford end of the walk, one is only 1.4 metres high, but there is alternative pedestrian footbridge over the railway, if you don't want to duck!.
