13 Jan 2023I thought this was a lovely route, and obviously fairly well used too. The wooded section was delightful, and the views from the fields were excellent. It had rained a lot in the weeks before I walked it, but the path next to the River Aire at Bingley was still dry. The footpaths through the woods and fields were muddy at the time though.
There is a fair climb at either end but that’s the price for those views! There are steps, narrow sections, kissing gates and stiles, so unlikely to be wheelable. There is a pub and a shop at Long Lee, towards Keighley, and there are benches at Long Lee Crick Club just before there.
At Currer Laithe Farm, use the path and little gate next to the pond, not the cattle grid which leads the wrong way. The paved and cobbled footpath down through Long Lea, and then Park Wood was a very pleasant surprise. The final footpath down to the bridge under the railway had a bonus view of the Keighley and Worth Valley Railway. Make sure you turn around to look at it if you start at the Keighley end.
The route between Keighley train and bus stations goes along Cavendish Street Arcade with its glass-canopied shops.
