Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.
Help people know more about this route by volunteering to submit a survey.

13 Oct 2021I walked this route on a bright morning in October 2021 (the first leg of a combination of three routes: Johpai 1, Pairen 1 and Rentho 1). The route follows the main road for most of its length, so is fairly noisy due to passing traffic and there are lots of side roads to be crossed. A more pleasant route might have been the cycle path which runs adjacent to the route for most of its length. However some people may not feel safe on the cycle path (it is quite lonely in places) so this is a good alternative. The route starts at Johnstone Railway Station and ends at Paisley's Gilmour Street Station. It passes some interesting sights including Elderslie Kirk, the William Wallace Monument, Ferguslie Gardens Park and Paisley Museum (undergoing major renovations at the time of the review). There are some particularly good views north to Ben Lomond from the high point of the route near Elderslie Golf Course. All in all an easy, interesting and fairly pleasant walk.
