03 Jul 2023I walked from Ilminster as far as Seavington St Michael where I turned off to camp at Lopen Head. The first part, once you have left Ilminster, is along lanes and through the woods, and is very pleasant. But I lost the route around the Knott Oak dairy and ended up wading through wild overgrown fields - check your map against the footpaths very carefully! There was a shop at Seavington but a cafe which seemed only open in the mornings.

27 Feb 2022Mostly a nice walk, in winter there are muddy, but passable sections. The worst area is around the dairy farm at Seavington St Mary, you might find mud over your ankles in that section. Leaving Illminster isn't much fun as the route goes alongside a moderately busy road, but there is a pavement all the way, so it is safe. For a lot of the walk the noise of the A303 is constantly in the background.
So, all in all, a decent safe walk.
