03 May 2024A nice easy walk. If you're after a walk along the sea, this is ideal, but there's not much else to see, so for more variation in environment, the other route may be more suited.
Very exposed, so on a windy day, you may prefer to take the more inland route if you'd rather avoid being buffeted.

01 Jan 2023Lovely seaside walk to get you to/from Folkestone/Hythe. The walk is generally suitable for walkers, runners, wheelers and is largely on a concrete promenade that runs along side the sea.
One of my favourite walks to just stroll and let the time pass by.

17 May 2022The best and most direct established route between Folkestone and Hythe. Obviously with beautiful sea views! Clear route, no problems. Very safe to walk. Prevailing wind is west to east so easier walking Hythe to Folkestone than Folkestone to Hythe.

25 Sep 2021Almost entirely level, and good surfaces as far as the zig-zag path up from the Lower Leas. A shallower incline is possible by continuing along Lower Sandgate Road towards Folkestone Harbour, and then turning left up Road of Remembrance to the upper Leas, and continuing ahead, west, to Castle Hill Avenue.

16 May 2021Note that the path along the canal is graded and compacted gravel (not tarmac). A fully paved alternative would to to use Ladies Walk (directly between Hythe centre and the promenade. The route uses the sea wall at Sandgate, this gets blocked by deep shingle after storms. An alternative to this is to follow the parallel road road - A259/Sandgate High Street, then Castle Rd, Radnor Cliff and Lower Sandgate Road. The zig-zag path climbs (eastwards) 45m in about 450m, but some parts are estimated to be about 1:5 (20%, 10degs). The base route, and the two alternative options listed here are step-free, with paved/compacted surfaces from the centre of Hythe to Folkestone Central platforms.
