12 May 2024This is a nice walk with a splendid section crossing St Leonard's Forest. The Dragon is about halfway along the walk and was very welcoming for lunch. As you approach Crawley, it's worth visiting Ifield Mill Pond for its stunning walkway across the lake and a chance to admire the ducks, geese and swans. Ifield Mill is also attractive. It would be possible to shorten the walk if you wanted by catching the train from Ifield station. I didn't do that, but I varied the walk by crossing the footbridge over the A23 to go into Goffs Park and then carry on alongside the railway line to Crawley station. I'm glad I did this as the park is very pleasant and you also go past a historic signal box.

28 May 2021Walked on Friday 28th May from Crawley to Horsham. The route mainly follows footpaths out of Crawley including past the attractive Ifield Mill. Once past Bewbush the whole walk passes through the remants of St. Leonard's Forest, mainly on bridle paths which are wide and easy to follow. There are short sections into and out of Colgate village where one is walking along a narrow verge along a road which is busy at times.
Generally the route is well traced on the map and easy to follow on the ground. Pleasant forestry trails.
