Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.
Help people know more about this route by volunteering to submit a survey.

11 Mar 2022Pleasant, flattish, easy and varied walk, but extremely muddy in places when walked after heavy rain in February.
The footpath is signed through the 'Hortus Loci' garden centre in Hound Green but you have to look for some of the signs. A little further on (when walking from Hook to Heckfield) when going past Turnpike Copse, the well marked footpath takes a slightly different route than that on the map, but ends up in the same place on Laundry Lane.
When part of the route was walked again in March it was much less muddy.

27 Feb 2022The route ends at Heckfield, a Slow Ways node. However, as at Feb 2022, there is no public transport available from Heckfield and only limited facilities there. The route itself is generally good, but much of the first half was very muddy. (A drier alternative will be sought.) The route is otherwise attractive and fairly easy to follow, with an unusual section passing through a garden centre/nursery (marked with their own green and yellow signs). There are a number of stiles and gates and the busy B3349 needs to be crossed twice so, even in dry conditions, the route would not be considered suitable for wheels.
