Description
This route is direct, only 15% longer than the shortest possible route (beside busy roads). Harsol One is 53% or 3.5km longer than the shortest route (2.5km longer than this). I've walked The Gallop (Longfield to New Barn) as part of another Slow Way and it was one of the best bits, so I'm optimistic.
Both routes only have 3.5km of road walking despite being this one being so much shorter. Admittedly 1km of that is on a country lane, not through a village, so national speed limit for traffic. On the other hand, looking at Google Street View, it's a single track road with passing places - so probably low traffic, and there are decent verges and few hedges. I think it would be ok to walk along as the sightlines look pretty good. The (long) road section through Hartley looks quite busy and not exactly inspiring.
Also like Harsol One there is a pub as The Green Man in Longfield Hill is only 250m off the route
