Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.
Help people know more about this route by volunteering to submit a survey.

16 Apr 2024I agree with the earlier reviews.
There is an accuracy issue just south of Invermoriston that I am going to get edited. Until then, as the route enters/leaves Invermoriston at Dalcataig Road, make sure you stay on the Great Glen Way and you'll be fine. The route line accidentally shoots further west than it should.
Enjoy!

30 May 2022A walk through woodland and forestry following the Great Glen Way (low route) with only occasional views of Loch Ness.
The early stages are excellent through the hills and woodlands around Fort Augustus. A long stretch of this walk is through the forestry plantations along a typically stony forestry track, which crosses lots of burns with some small waterfalls along the way. The walk into Invermoriston at end is excellent and it`s worth spending some time visiting the main Invermoriston Falls (just off the path).
The path can be cycled, but probably not suitable for wheelchairs.

24 May 2021A well made, clearly marked route along the Great Glen Way, with short steep climbs out of Fort Augustus and Invermoriston to reach a forestry track running alongside Loch Ness.
