Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.
Help people know more about this route by volunteering to submit a survey.

26 Mar 2022This is a classic walk. I've both walked and ran this route lots of times. The route follows the river Exe through marsh, woods, fields and historic ports with views to the hills, river and city.
The route includes a couple of flights of steps that will make it challenging for some.
It only misses out on 5* because the route line could be drawn more accurately... but not SO badly you can't follow it, so I think it is good enough to be in the network.

08 Feb 2022The route is a little difficult to navigate at the initial stage once you leave the city centre and we made a few wrong turns. However, once you're outside of the Exeter city area, it's very easy just to follow the river. There are a few more busy roads than I would wish for on a walking route of this length, but otherwise, there's a lot to see. Walking under the colossal M5 motorway bridge is surprisingly thrilling!.
