Description

Although this route is longer than EnfiWal 1 it does include long stretches alongside the Pymmes Brook, the River Lea Navigation, and through the 'wild' spaces of Tottenham Marshes, making up roughly half the length. Otherwise it's a mixture of quiet small and busy wide roads and one urban footpath. There are big geographical barriers and road layout constraints so some busy parts are inevitable but a few diversions into small neighbourhood parks break this up a little.

Just within the middle third is the Waterside Cafe and some separate toilets beside the canal at Stonebridge Lock, but the toilets may be for mooring users only. Bus routes 34, 444 and 192 cross or pass close to the middle third of the route. Ponders End, Tottenham Hale and Blackhorse Road stations are also possible break points but are within the outer thirds of the route, you'd find a shop or cafe nearby.

Overall there is very little up or down to this route, it could be fruitful to survey it for accessibility. There are gates onto the level crossing near Enfield.

If a more direct but still somewhat green(/blue) route was preferred the northern half of this route and the southern half of EnfiWal 1 could be combined, (crossing near Banbury Reservoir) which would be only 1km longer than EnfiWal 1. But it would miss the untamed and rather lovely section in Tottenham Marshes entirely

Surveys

We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.

Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.

Help people know more about this route by volunteering to submit a survey.
