Grade 4: Route includes very rough surfaces including deep ruts, steep loose gravel, unmade paths and deep muddy sections. Wheelchairs may experience traction/wheel spin issues.

Very beautiful and easy to navigate, but not accessible and quite rough in places.

Sorry, the majority of this route does not meet your criteria as it is on road or pavement throughout except the Northern section which is a void contender.

I've known this route for nearly sixty years. It starts off along the edge of a golf course, then passes through parkland and enters woodland with views of the Allan Water. Some sections are quite rough underfoot (rocks and tree roots) and parts of the path turn into streams after heavy rain (and can become dangerously icy in winter).

Passes a cave that is believed to have inspired Robert Louis Stevenson to write Treasure Island (RLS spent childhood summer holidays in Bridge of Allan).

Nice route - can get muddy when wet. Glen Road alternative is longer but a consistent hard surface. Footpaths and woodland - no lights!.

Report

Southern half is stunning, northern half is squeezed between unwelcoming-looking big house and golf club. You can divert to Glen Rd to avoid the northern half.

    I would disagree that the route is unwalkable, but it is difficult in parts and definately not for those with low mobility issues. I think it has a part in the network, especially when taken in consideration with neighbouring routes that are much trickier (Dartmouth to Totnes for example).
