14 Sep 2021 Summer

Mainly a farmland walk. No paved roads, just bridleways and footpaths. Beautiful views and silence all around. Refreshing.
Downside is that depending on the season and the crops, paths can be narrow, moved or lost; see picture. So have a map and compass at hand.
On Dorset Explorer numerous problems reports have been made in 2021, about half of the issues have been resolved.
Walking from dor to pid, at Three Cornered Coppice follow bridleway in NE direction (S40/18, S 39/31, S35/7), all the way till Muston Farm. Turn left (north) towards pid.

16 May 2021 Spring

The route is very pleasant crossing between the Frome and Piddle valleys over a high ridge. A mixture of bridleways and footpaths are used. Many of the paths are narrow, following field edges, mostly arable but some inquisitive cattle and horses encountered. In two stretches, detailed below, the paths have been lost under the plough. The route would be improved by finding alternatives to these stretches.

Footpaths and bridleways around Piddlehinton have been re-routed. Dorpid1 south of Little Puddle Barn climbs the hill away from the water meadow across an arable field and is no longer marked. It is better to follow the bridleway to Muston Manor and take the track to re-join the marked path.

A section of the route climbing the ridge between Three Cornered Coppice and the ridge above Muston Manor is unmarked across an arable field, so best to follow field edges. (see photo).
