12 Sep 2022Walked the Dorking - Horley direction on a foggy early autumnal day. For the most part a very pleasant walk through farmland and past some historic spots. The downside was some short sections of road walking with sporadic but very fast traffic (although verges were wide) and a very overgrown and inaccessible path just past Brittleware Farm. Lots of stiles and a couple of fields of cows, some of the former in poor repair, but otherwise accurate and feeling safe. There are also many nicer, less busy ways into Horley other than the A217, so I will suggest some tweaks at that point.

28 Aug 2022I walked this from Horley to Dorking on a warm, but slightly overcast Saturday morning.
This would be 5 stars if: there was less road walking near Horley; and no electric fence to cross. There is a Horhor2 route now, which does need review but I am going to guess is a 5 star route.
Most of this route is through farmland, with sheep, cows, and horses, and a llama. Walking from south to north, like I did, gives a good view of the chalk hills of the North Downs. There was very little road walking (besides the first 2 miles near Horley), and where it was necessary, it was either short, little traffic, or a good verge. The route was mostly flat, with only two minor hills. In some places it probably would get a little muddy. There were a lot of stiles though.

27 Aug 2022Dorking Stations are 15 minutes from the start, which I guessed was the South St bus stop. The walk was a very pleasant start through fields following the Greensand Way. There were a lot of stiles, many needing repair and walking on roads, with fast moving cars. I would suggest change from Ridgewood Stud to move right and then go past the moat into Horley to avoid three roundabouts. The path from Brittleware Farm to Wrstwsrd farm was a footpath dumped with rubbish of all kinds and then through a field with an electric fence. I am going to suggest an alternative.
