Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.

23 Aug 2023Leaving Bramhall Station on a wet day, onto Ack lane East, cross the train tracks, towards carr wood, Carr wood is a pleasant walk, lots of dog walkers, a large portion of the walk is on roads, good level walk, I think suitable for prams or wheelchairs.
Over all I give it a 4 only just as I would prefer more off road. There is an alternative route more off track but it is less direct.

16 May 2023 (edited 14 May 2023)I enjoyed this quiet walk it was just a couple of little stool with sharp pin sticking out which I think it is dengerous for public (photo 5). Also a tree has fallen which could do with being removed ( Photo 6).

05 Sep 2022Most of this route is on paths beside suburban homes. Roughly a third goes through Carr Wood, which as others have said, is a treat. The woods are largely below the path enough that it feels like you are walking in the canopy of the wood (ish).
I'm sure there will be a shorter way to the south of the railway, but unless you were in a real rush.. it would be worth going this way just for those woods.
This is a fine and surprisingly varied suburban Slow Way.

16 Dec 2021I walked this route on 16 Dec 2021 (from Bramhall to Cheadle Hulme. It's fine for anyone who can manage short bits of steepness. It's OK for prams (just) but there is one narrowness/gate (where the path meets the road at the top of Carr Wood, gridref 889860) and I can't remember whether that would be possible for wheelchairs. Most of it is on suburban roads, but Carr Wood is fairly rural-feeling. Some of the houses on Manor Road are very big and "flash" - making this bit quite interesting too.

01 May 2021Lovely route, Carr Wood is a delight. Manor Road towards Cheadle Hulme is a little busy, but wide pleasant pavements - can use adjacent Bramhall Park Road if you prefer and don't mind the excursion.

03 May 2021After Carr Wood an alternative would be the Ladybrook Trail and then the footpath alongside the railway. The advantage is it would avoid Station Road, but the disadvantage is it would add distance - around an extra 700 metres. Maybe here have two routes to choose from?
