Our goal is for each Slow Way to have at least one route that is verified and surveyed. To be verified – and get its snail badge – a route needs at least three positive reviews.

Leaving Bramhall station along teh bust woodford road. Crossing via a bridge on the A555 across fields, mostly back lanes at this stretch, a couple of gates, it was a rainy day and teh fields were waterlogged so not suitable for wheelchairs or prams. A long stretch along blossoms lane and through a wooded area. (Hall Wood). Onto Handforth Road, a footpath through a housing estate coming out on Wilmslow Road turning onto pretty Wilmslow station. 3 overall as this route was mainly road and muddy fields....

Leaving Bramhall Station on a wet day, onto Ack lane East, cross the train tracks, towards carr wood, Carr wood is a pleasant walk, lots of dog walkers, a large portion of the walk is on roads, good level walk, I think suitable for prams or wheelchairs. Over all I give it a 4 only just as I would prefer more off road. There is an alternative route more off track but it is less direct....

The walk starts at Hazel grove station and turns onto a stable path, however, it soon descends down towards the stream on very steep unstable and muddy steps. Walking along the stream at Fred Perry Way is lovely but there are pedestrian styles and this walk is not suitable for wheelchairs or prams, it also seems that half of Fred Perry Way has been gated off to prevent access. I would not walk all of it again but the part along the stream I would....

I really enjoyed this beautiful walk. I would suggest it would be nice the 2 railway bridges could do with cleaning the path and sand down the metal and give it paint makes very nice and pleasant start (photo 4) then a little tidy up the path (photo 5 & 10) the rest of the walk specially as you walk with river on your left but when you get to the main road a bit confusing first of all there is a gate on Seal Road (photo 12)that is closed so you have reroute from the main road and then I lost my bearing and took a wrong turn on Dawlish close end up in Milton Road which still took me to Bramhall Lane south. All together a pleasant walk and very nice rout will do it again....

It's not very good for wheelchair accessible its a Lovely walk beautiful views and wildlife...

I walked from Poynton church in lovely village of Poynton to Bramhall I walked on the main road as I got to the Poynton train station turn right to Spinners Lane and got to the football field first, I took a wrong turn end up to Deva Close I had to turn back to find my way to end of the football field and found the footpath which was not clear from the other side, as I got to Woodford Road it was a bit complicated with no sign had to guess my way round with a bit of uncertainty I went as I thought I am going through someone’s, gate luckily I guessed right and found the footpath on the other side eventually got to the side of Bramhall oil Terminal which a few scrap metal was lying around as you can see in photo could do with being removed once I passed the oil Terminal I started walking on the footpath which is situated on the back of house on the Adelaide Road on a easy walk very squeezed and difficult to walk through it as you can see on the photo. Unfortunately, I didn’t enjoy the walk. Which it is a sham for such a lovely neighbourhood....

I enjoyed this quiet walk it was just a couple of little stool with sharp pin sticking out which I think it is dengerous for public (photo 5). Also a tree has fallen which could do with being removed ( Photo 6)....

Some parts of it are very good and worth keeping - the section from Ladybridge road to Bramhall is lovely to walk (although very muddy after rain), but there are better ways to get from Stockport to that point without diverting to all the parks. Some sections are not doable with a pram when it has been wet....

A tour of Stockport's urban parks is nice, but I was constantly looking for the next left or right, it's a tedious way to walk!...

I'm not convinced that the station is the best meeting place for Hazel Grove but will leave that to locals to consider. Easy pavement pounding, past Bramhall station to the pleasant meeting place, seats by the modern church....

These were passable when walking, but would force runners to slow down to skip sideways....

The woods are largely below the path enough that it feels like you are walking in the canopy of the wood (ish)....

man made knoll by the A555 gives an excellent panorama of the area...

Suggest highest rate if the cycleway over the WCML is accessed to avoid the Woodford Road bridge from the new knoll summit....
ricardo
the climb over the knoll is well worth the view and should give access to the a555 .....action council......

The path has been diverted to access a bridge under the road with the railway. This route avoids crossing the railway here and heads down a rather narrow footpath onto an estate road then a further path between the houses links to a playing field. The final approach to Poynton is along the road passing the impressive welcome sign and advice that this is a 'Shared Space Village' with the instruction, or was it a request to 'Give Way to All'....

No issue at Distaff Barn the side gate allows access to the footpath, you are on CCTV but where are we not monitored....

A reroute is needed, because a footpath shown on the map, and currently used in this route, is blocked by a new house. The main issue is that the footpath shown heading WNW from the Woodford Road at gridref 905840 is impassable1...

It's OK for prams (just) but there is one narrowness/gate (where the path meets the road at the top of Carr Wood, gridref 889860) and I can't remember whether that would be possible for wheelchairs....
HughEverett
Great route through a mixture of wooded areas, fields and urban. The route is relatively flat aside from short, minor inclines but the route is not suitable for wheelchair users. The route has a number of stiles and isn't well lit in the rural sections but well lit in the urban parts....
JonWildman
A good route, although access isn't perfect: there are two railway bridges with steps at the Hazel Grove end (photo 1), and there's a muddy stepped path where Wallbank Road meets the nature reserve (photo 2)....

Manor Road towards Cheadle Hulme is a little busy, but wide pleasant pavements - can use adjacent Bramhall Park Road if you prefer and don't mind the excursion....
