Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.
Help people know more about this route by volunteering to submit a survey.

17 Jul 2021I don't recommend this route. It is all on rural B roads, with no pavements and often no verges. Traffic is relatively light, but fast (I suspect local motorists use it as an alternative to the much busier A84). There are blind bends and dips.
If you are fit and alert, then I think it is just about safe enough to use as a pedestrian route if you really need to walk between Callander and Kippen (which is why I have given it two stars rather than one). Don't expect it to be enjoyable!
I don't believe there is any prospect of better direct route between these two locations (due to agricultural land and the position of bridges over the Forth and Teith). If you need to walk between them I would suggest going either by Aberfoyle or by Doune (the B8031 is less busy). This is about 25km. This route is 17km, and the distance as the crow lies is 13km.
