05 Oct 2024 (edited 06 Oct 2024)A varied but enjoyable walk. Plenty of shops and cafes at Borehamwood near the station. The path across Park Fields is not as straight as the map suggests. Easy crossing the golf course and following the exit road to the A5183 Watling Street. This road was fairly quiet and easy to cross. The next path to Butterfly Lane was pleasant although with planes flying overhead. No footpath at Butterfly Lane (600 metres) but patchy rough verges. Quiet road but could be busy at end of school time with parents collecting boys. After the Battle Axes Pub the path was somewhat overgrown. Fortunately I had my portable pruning tool although part of this path was muddy (at ///misty.normal.glaze). A good path after the aerodrome and through two maize fields. The wiggly bridle way under and over the A41 is well signposted. You turn off to a path just after the bridge. Note that as you approach Tylers Farm that the PROW is on the south-east side of the hedge line (///turned.duke.school). After another field walk you are in the streets of Bushey passing two schools. At the end of Herne Road I turned left to enter the Bushey Rose Garden. Plenty of seats and the toilets are open when garden staff are on duty. There are several cafes in Bushey High Street and buses to Watford although it's under a mile to Bushey Station straight down the main road.

15 May 2022I walked this from Borehamwood to Bushy. Once crossing the railway you end up walking through nice green fields. There were planes and helicopters overhead sometimes. PROW 15 was blocked off by a gate and a fence, to go around some hall. There is a redirection around the property, but this was uncool. There is then a short section along a road with no pavement. The path then crosses a road and through a field, going around Elstree Aerodrome. At some point you can just walk onto the runway, but I wouldn't recommend that. There are some nice views. Crossing the M1/A41 is a bit of a pain, but not unsafe. On the other side there was a field with horses, and a path that looks to become very muddy in the rain. The last section then becomes urban before arriving at Bushy.

24 Sep 2021This is a pleasant and varied walk. Residential streets, roads, lanes, highstreets. Narrow woodland paths, open fields, gravel and dirt tracks, Bridges, bridleways, farms, golf courses, grass and common land. All in 9km!
There are steps and narrow kissing gates with some steep parts likely to be muddy when wet. A short section along a lane without pavement. Noisy near the main road and aerodrome.
But the variety means constant change and interest.
