Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.

Route fulfils SlowWays’ objectives until just after Great Barton’s Holy Innocents church, the footpath sign indicates a cross field path. This path is beautifully maintained, and draws you on to walk it. The slight turn to the left includes a steep, and not well kept ditch, but onwards again there a beautifully maintained cross field path, which ends at the side of the wood. From the end of the path to the road the land is private. Consequently if following Bursta 1 a detour has to be made, and the lane walked instead as suggested in Bursta 2.

27 Apr 2021Walked this Stanton to Bury St Edmunds direction (can't find a route of that name - 2 x Bury St Edmunds to Stanton on Slow Ways site). Very good, enjoyable route, would recommend. Slight detour required where land owner has put up signs saying Private Land (no FP marked on OS), but just a right and 1st left along the road and you're back on track. 50/50 mix of quiet country lanes and footpaths, couple of busy A roads to cross and some terrain/gates not suited for wheelers. Great Route.

25 Jan 2024Hello Leapy. I'm thinking of walking the Stanton to Bury Slow Way that you tested and while I was looking it up I realised that there is only one difference between the two routes. It's actually the diversion which you used to get around the private path while testing BurSta 1, so you did actually end up testing both BurSta 1 and BurSta 2. If you add/copy your review onto the other route then it would be officially verified.
